A revolutionary and bold step in freediving fins and fin technology for diving in general. Two separate foot pockets, a Left and a Right, are the most apparent features that put the fins in a category of their own. The second noticeable difference is the lack of supporting rubber ribs on the sides of the blades.
C4 states this allows for the fins to feel as natural as possible on a diver’s feet and thereby reduces the amount of wasted energy through the fin stroke as well as allowing the carbon fiber blades to work naturally.
The diver swims in a very natural kicking position and this eliminates energy loss, conferring it through the fin blades in the most efficient way possible.
The blades are tapered with a parabolic shape in the rubber channels on the side of the fin thereby concentrating and maximizing water flow down the blades optimally through the fin stroke.
The Super Falcon difference compared to the standard Mustang is a concave shape tip protecting the front of the blades from dings and scratches on the bottom. The Super Falcon showed in tests it is up to 40% stiffer than the standard Falcon. One reason for this is the increased sectional thickness of the carbon fiber increased by 15% and the holes near the angle of the blade have eliminated a typical fin weak point.
Choice of stiffness
C4 Super Falcon blades come in three grades of stiffness: 25 Soft, 30 Medium and 40 Hard in order to suit all different types of uses.
A soft blade will complement a dive in not too deep water where a sudden burst of speed is always required thus offering a relaxed and comfortable dive and good management of precious oxygen.
A harder blade will give the extra boost of power required from a hurried ascent in deep water or from a sudden change of direction or a swift U turn. In these occurrences a hard blade will offer the best chance for a safer and more productive dive.
Nonetheless a hard blade will take its toll on oxygen supply with only a moderate increase in speed and overall performance.
